Getting In Deep And Climbing Back Out

Three years ago I had no credit card debt at all. It was a wonderful feeling. But I haven’t had that feeling since. You see, life happens. My van died when I was over a thousand miles from home with my family on vacation. We got a used car that needed $2,000 in work. And after that, I had gotten in the mode of swiping that card to get what I needed, and I think that we all know that once you get in that habit, it’s very hard to break. This swiping streak ended with me being over $9,000 in the hole. Well, I went to some older men that I respect and asked them about settling credit card debt. I wanted some clear advice that I could take to the bank, literally. Their answers were straight forward and not watered down in any way. They told me to cut up the cards, and never consider it an option again. It’s ridiculous to buy what I can’t pay for anyway. They also said to spend my spare change and every penny that I can on getting rid of that debt clean and clear. One more thing, and this was a biggie, they told me not to use my tax refund to buy stuff I want, but instead to take a huge chunk out of the debt. This has resulted in lower interest payments and some cards being paid completely off. I’m getting closer, and that wonderful feeling is returning again. Make good choices this year. Settling credit card debt can be easier than you think.
