Safety Tips for Hunters

Unload your firearms when not in use. You may know that your firearm is loaded but friends and family may assume that it is unloaded.

Don’t hop or climb over a fence or climb into a tree stand with a loaded gun. When travelling on an ATV or other vehicle unload the gun as well.

Before taking a shot, most hunters are aware of what is between them and the target, but many people forget to consider what is behind it. Don’t assume that you won’t miss and hit something behind that you might regret. Good quality hunting optics is important.

Never allow your emotions to over ride your common sense. It is critical to think before you act.

A compass, a map and a good flashlight can save the day, especially if you become lost in the dark.
